Abstract. This research aims to deeply analyze the mechanism of depressive symptoms among left - behind adolescents in Zhaoqing from the perspective of the ecosystem theory. Data were collected through questionnaire surveys and interviews, and statistical analysis and structural equation modeling were used to process and analyze the data. The study found that at various levels of the ecosystem theory, factors such as family parenting styles and parent - child communication in the microsystem, school support and peer relationships in the mesosystem, community environment and social policies in the exosystem, and cultural values and socio - economic development levels in the macrosystem all have a significant impact on the development of depressive symptoms in left - behind adolescents. The various systems are interconnected and work together, forming a complex mechanism for the occurrence of depressive symptoms . This study provides a theoretical basis and practical direction for the prevention and intervention of depressive symptoms among left - behind adolescents in Zhaoqing.
